In her book "A Glimpse of Eden", Teresa Laurente draws the inspiration of her folk art paintings from nature and expresses her spiritual experience in her creative process. She reflects the peace she feels when she is with the trees, mountains, rivers, and animals etc. This reminds me of St. Francis of Assisi who prayed in nature and discovered about God and himself through contemplative prayer. He was intimately connected to creation and this helped him become deeply aware of the presence of God.We too need this peaceful encounter as our extroverted culture seems to be afraid of silence and desires success, endless activities, accomplishments, having fun and parties.
My favorite painting is “Vacation Island” because the blue sky and the sea remind me of my hometown and it evokes in me a feeling of stillness, peace and tranquility. In relation to this art work, the artist quoted Mother Teresa:
“We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature – trees, flowers, grass—grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence. We need to be able to touch souls.”
In her "Vacation Island" reflection, the artist focuses on our expectations from people and life, the disillusions that they sometimes bring us. Amidst her pain, she struggles to find meaning in life and the courage to move forward. She feels the presence of God and an abiding spirit of joy and peace overflows her.
The artist finds solace in her paintings, which are her expression of art and her deep spirituality. In this sense, the manifestations that are conveyed to her readers can provoke and inspire reflections and, hopefully, personal transformation. That, I believe, is the main contribution of this book.

This book is very inspiring. I've never read a book with great positive message to the readers such like this and how Teresa combine God's words with the beauty of her artworks. How she intertwined life and nature and faith in this book, is impeccable!
